trans proublem with reverse since apart

I had my 5spd awd trans apart to change a broken shift fork and ever since I put it back together it has a really loud straight cut gear noise louder than it should be can anybody tell me what I might have done wrong when i put it back togather? Also my output shaft to transfer case can slide right out now had to press it out when I took it apart could this be part of my proublem?Other than that trans works good.

Did you adjust the preloads and end plays to spec (with correct thickness washers) using the solder method?
