ok so my i can not get my tranny to shift into gear at all while its running, when its off i shifts just fine..only way to get it into gear is to put it in gear while the motor is not running but heres the thing, when i put it into first and go to start it with the clutch in all the way it will roll and start in gear like i dont have a clutch at all...a few weeks ago this happened but i was able to drive and shift just fine now it wont shift at all....no matter how hard i push to try to get it to go in gear it will not move... but if i go to reverse it grinds...please help i dont know trannys very much. car is 100% stock...i know my clutch is starting to slip.. i had it at a delership a month ago and the totally messed my car up...but they said the shifter fork was a little bent could that be the problem..

i read the link u posted and i will go try that now but like just before i started this thread i went to leave and it will not go into gear with the car running... is there any other way to test to find out what could be wrong....and thank you for not telling me to use the search...i have and could not find anything with the same issue as mine.

sorry about the grammar. so i just tried what the link said and well it would not go into gear so i gave it some gas almost to redline and than it let me go into gear and took it for a short drive all was fine till i came to a stop and it wouldnt gointo gear so i reved it up again than it went into gear and i took it thru all the gears and only the second time going thru them was it kind hard to shift almost like it didnt wanna go into gear but it did...and this is random but is there a mod thak u can do to make the car start without pushing the clutch in...from driving many manuals i know u have to push it in to start the car....for some reason i dont have to push it in to start mine... i never leave it in gear btw

There is a mod that you can do you disable the clutch start switch. From the home page click on "Tech Guides", then in the VFAQ's and Tutorials section click on "Drivetrain", scroll a little past half way down the page and click on "how to disable the clutch start switch". This will tell you why and how to do it.

When I had this issue, the "fingers" on the pressure plate were screwed up (almost like someone heated them up and moved them back and forth so they were very weak and the throwout bearing was leaving half of them pushed in and the other half pushed out). Would only go into gear when off, but would start in gear and go through the other gears just fine.

Do what stated to do with the Clutch switch, it will disable the push to start clutch.

About the shifting issue, You are more likely to have a bad clutch or some sore of it, But the issue is in the clutch not the trany, nor the engine, Start thinking and getting ready to bring the trany out and replace the clutch, so Start saving for the clutch kit.

You can keep asking questions, but no one or never you are going to know what exactly is going on, until you get the trany off and see whats in there (clutch).

i realize now that it is a clutch issue and i am going to get a new one hopefully soon... and the reason y i asked about the mod was because the owner before me must have done it and was just wondering about it...

First of all, DON'T BUY SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE NOT SURE IF YOU NEED IT.
If you all ready adjust the clutch and inspect it, then you should proceed with the next step, which is to get the trany off, once you get it off, then look whats bad and good, You can buy a complete clutch kit and end up having just a bad throw out bearing, (I'm not saying it is your problem), I just giving you an Idea on how to make i up.

Agreed, which is why you probably shouldn't have told him this:

Start thinking and getting ready to bring the trany out and replace the clutch, so Start saving for the clutch kit.

OP - Did you do the clutch drag test?

yes i did the drag clutch test...i had to run to town and well my clutch is gone now.. thats how i know i need a clutch it was fine going to town but on the way back i had to limp it home best i could....while driving id go to give it gas and all it did was rev up not really speed up

If you read well, You will see that I never told him to buy it, I told him to start looking, be prepared, Like always, HOPE FOR THE BEST, PREPARE FOR THE WORST.
Looking (searching) for a couple of options, Kind of clutch, or best place to buy, Once he has all that and bring down the trany, then he all ready knows what to do.

Op.

Proceed with the trany to get it off, search for a couple of vendors here in the site, check which will give you a better deal, or find the best set up that sweets your eye or packet, (AGAIN, I'M NOT SAYING TO BUY IT, JUST GET THE INFO), Once you have all that sorted out, at this time you all ready might have the trany off, so check what you need and/or what you want, and go head with what ever you decide.

If you end up going with a new clutch set up, then you all ready know where to buy it and/or what kind of clutch you want.

Having all the information and/or the source of what you MIGHT going to need, will give you time to decide on what route you want to go, rather then just pick what ever is faster to get your car back in the road.
