I know the quick made me sound like a noob, but i've got things to do places to go, and the dsm always lets me down.

Anyway here's the story.

I bent the shifter bracket during a trans swap, that made 1st gear grind always but 3rd ground as did R 2 and 4 were perfect. I got a new one, put that on. Now 1st will hardly ever go in, 2nd grinds but the rest are perfect. The day after I put the bracket on I adjusted the cables at the base with the shifter in 4th gear. The ends of the cables slide on/off the shaft all day. For a few days after I adjusted it, the car was shifting like new. The syncro's are only about 4k miles old for 1 and 2. Now, I can only downshift into 1st IF I manage to get into 2nd. If it does get into 2nd it will always downshift into 1st no problems no grinds. When stopped, If i try to go from N to 1 it will grind, if i rev a few times and "feel" for 1st I can get it in. 2nd gear will go in only if shift fast and at about 6000rpm. I've triple checked the cable adjustment maybe im doing it wrong. I've checked the linkages at the transmission, bearings are fine, clips are on. Even when engine is off, it seems as if it's not going into gear. Any idea how to adjust for this? Or what's even wrong? Syncro's are new, it has fluid. The transmission shifted with no grinds less than 4 days ago and I have not been racing it due to a bad TPS. The transmission is a JDM selectable AWD/FWD in a 92 talon TSI if that matters. The cluch is disengaging fine. We verified this by me holding the clutch when in 1st gear and had a buddy push the car with ease while I revved. Im positive it's disengaging. I cant think of any other information I could give you guys, I hope someone has the answer.

At what height is the clutch engaging/disengaging?

Did your new cable bracket match the one that came off the JDM tranny? I ask as the 1990 bracket is different. Also, were the shift arms on your old tranny the same length as the JDM?
