I just wanted to put up my .02 on a trans fluid brand that I haven't seen too many comments on here on the forums. I've seen more than a few topics on the BG fluid and the Redline stuff, but almost nothing on this. I just replaced my fluid with the Royal Purple Synchromax, and so far in the past few weeks it's been GREAT! :thumb: The trans feels good whether hot or cold. I used to have to let the car warm up and until it did I had to shift like a 70 year old woman with arthritis...now, I can start it right up at just go! No tightness in gears and it shifts great cold.

I'm not saying the other 2 brands are no good, because there's more than enough to say they're great, but I figured I'd put this out there so people can see it when they search. It was hard for me to find the other brands in a store location and I was pressed for time so this is what I wound up going with.

I just put royal purple syncromax in my car also after the clutch and flywheel install. Seems like great stuff. I get it for $6.31 but i thing normal price is close to $11.

I'm currently in the drivetrain course at WyoTech and most of my instructors will agree with royal purple. royal purple, redline and castrol syntec. But I can't say I've seen the castrol in stores.

cool sounds like good stuff. i might try this. how much you got it for?

I got mine for $9.99 a quart at a local performance shop. If you use it be sure to add your 2 cents to this thread...if anything like i said it'll help out anyone who searches do a better comparo.

Edit: And solo92s10 is right, I'm retarded...it's called "Synchromax", I mixed up the names with the BG fluid.

i used the valvoline syn. in my trans., transfer and rearend. it seems to shift just fine but i have royal purple motor oil, cause someone gave it to me, so i'm using it.

have you felt like your shifting wasnt up to par, i done mine before i even had a chance to drive it, and i abuse it on a daily bases when i drive it, but i've never felt it wouldnt go in gear or grind, only little trouble going in 5th, like have to push on shifter twice, but other than that, no problems.

About that 5th gear problem, go to VFAQ.com and check for the loose shifter problem fix. It is common on these cars that the nut in the 5th gear synchro comes loose and it is really easy to fix BEFORE it decides to grenade the trans.

Yea definately check that out...that's the very reason I now know about the Royal Purple fluid...I had to fix the 5th gear pop-out problem the car had when I bought it. And it was the 36mm nut that came loose. If you search my member name you'll find my thread on it from like 2 weeks ago. defiant had a great link that helped me out.

Edit: better yet, here...

Royal Purple 75W90 isn't bad. It shifts nice, but it doesn't coat as well, or handle the shockload like Redline Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil.

If you are running a stock or near stock car, I would say it is fine to run it. I did see that I needed to flush my tranny more though when I used the Royal Purple.

If you are more modified, or are a track racer like myself, I would really reccomend using Redline Lightweight Shockproof for the transmission and using Redline Heavyweight Shockproof in the transfer case and rear end. Just my 2 cents with years of experience.

I have a pretty much "stock" 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 5spd with the 420a engine. I use it as my daily car. The only mod i have is a short ram intake ...(thinking to put on a turbo). I've buyed the Synchromax but didnt try it yet. I just want to make sure it will work properly in my tranny. So im wondering if I should go with the 75W90 or Synchromax....
