Tranny ?

My synchro for 3rd gear is shot really bad. I can go into 3rd with out yousing the cluth pegale and it grindes when i go into 3rd. My qustion is how much is it going to cost to replace it. Also can i put a evo tranny in instead of the onw i have. What do you think would be the best idea for a new tranny?

Let me get this straight, when you DO use the clutch pedal it grinds going in to third right? Going into gear without the clutch doesn't mean anything. Good or bad synchros can do that, it's just a matter of rev matching.

No, you can't drop an evo tranny in.

As for cost, depends on who does the work. I'd check out www.shepracing.com and www.teamrip.com as they are the best in the business for DSMs.

If you know your car well enough you can shift your car into gear without pressing on the clutch without getting any grinding whatsoever. I wouldn't suggest this though unless your willing to pay the price. I hear a lot of people do it when racing, I just cringe with the thought of my tranny grinding at 6K RPM.
