Orleans,
I just finished installing my new clutch and fidanza flywheel... on my FWD 90 TSI

now when the car is not running I can put it in all gears....when the car is running I cant put it in any gear....what could be the cause of this??? the clutch pedal engages and disengage freely...

Sounds like the pressure plate fingers aren't releasing either fully or at all. The pedal may work, but have someone push the pedal in while you look through the little window/hole on the trans where the clutch fork goes through to make sure it's pushing the pressure plate fingers and how much.

Could be the throwout bearing isn't clipped on the shaft straight, or maybe the flywheel wasn't stepped properly for whatever clutch you put in. Could be various causes to the problem, but sounds like the problem itself is the plate not releasing fully or at all.

I had this same problem, it was very frusterating i had the tranny in and out about 6 or 7 times trying to figure out the problem, replaced 2600 pressure plate and disk and throwout bearing, and clutch fork, master cylinder and slave cylinder. The problem ended up being that i just had to bleed the clutch more. I thought that since i didnt remove the slave cylinder from the line during the transmission removals and installations that i wouldnt have to bleed it. Wrong! It made me feel like such a rookie after all that work i had been doing that was the problem. Hope this helps if not i know exactly how you feel.

Had the same problem too when I installed my ACT clutch and flywheel a while back, problem was the clutch wasn't disengaging all the way, solution, I just readjusted the clutch pedal and I was able to shift .

I have the same problem I am triing to figure out. But I bleed the slave cyl. like 12 times, tried to adjust the clutch pedal (but that was the biggest b@#$^ and after being there for 45mins got nowhere with it, tried to start it in gear and when that happen the car wanted to lerch forward so what we figured is the clutch, so a couple more bolts and i'll figure it out i hope, and the worst part was is that the clutch was out of the car I was taking the engine out of and it worked just fine in that car. :barf: Man this things a piss off.. dsm i guess :thumb:
