Well, my clutch engages/disengages close to the floor, probably a few inches, it has always been this way and shifting has been fine. All of a sudden last week shifting became very difficult in all gears, this would be on and off for the next few days. Untill now second gear is very difficult to get into, and likes to grind unless at the correct speed, and you CANNOT get it into 2'nd when downshifting, AT ALL. i changed the fluid and bled the clutch, and all of the other gears shift okay- some days not soo well, some days smooth. second is basically unusable. now heres my other thing.... reverse..... when in reverse, u let clutch out, move in reverse direction, rolls smoothly while clutch is out in reverse, then all of a sudden when u put clutch in u get this odd slowing down, almost feels like the clutch catches every revolution then lets go... and when that finally stops you u'r kinda stuck there, to get the gear into/out of reverse u kinda have to move a little then it unlocks- i have thought it over and it would be difficult for it to be the clutch itself because it doesnt act like this in any other gears, - well, i know this message is a bit choppy and confusing, if you need any more information please ask- thanks in advance for any help. Nick

Okay, i really doubt its the clutch- i adjusted the master cylinder rod/pedal so that it disengages higher, the rest of the gears are decently smooth- (havent really changed much from what they've been like for the past few weeks) , but second is completely gone.. cant even get it into gear, even at a stop, well- u get it in, but when u start to go it pops out and grinds. now the thing that i've found is that if u just LIGHTLY grind the gears, while u'r moving, with the clutch pressed in, the grind slows down with the vehicle speed- and if u slightly rev it with clutch in, the grind doesnt change- and same while at a standstilll, it doesnt grind while revving , with clutch in- so im guess that the clutch is letting go, its just that the synchro is not bring the gear up to the speed of the wheels... im hoping that i havent done more damage, cauz now u cant even move in 2'nd, just pops out. ----- Lastly, and quite strange- when u put it in reverse... like i said before, u let clutch out start moving, if u push clutch back in all the way it jumps and catches and grabs and slows u down quickly... now here is the thing, if u let the clutch out to just the point that where the clutch is no longer grabbing (can rev with no movement) it does not do the weird catching grabbing - slowing down thing..... some im guess that has something to do with the force that the clutch is putting on the input shaft- is the reverse gear on the same shaft as second? maybe the second gear synchro disinegrated and now when the clutch is out, in reverse, it pulls the whole shaft one way and makes funny things happen- i really dont know... im going to be pulling it apart, but i'd like to know what im getting myself into- or if there is any other reason this could be happening- im a broke college student so if i dont have to pull it apart i really dont want to. - thanks a lot, nick

dude you got me if your grinding in gear i am guessing the synchros are out do you have a knocking..... my car likes to be ### ass sometimes and grinds , from synchros , but if you dont get a grab it could be misaligned or the tob is fugged , .. but u really got me anyone else wanna take a stab use some friction modifier see if that helps

Reverse gear is driven by the 1/2 hub slider, which is the thing that pushes the 1/2 syncro when you shift.

You might have more than one issue in your trans. Maybe a little bit of everything is worn down. Worn out shaft bearings will let the gearshafts move around and ruin their alignment with the shift forks.
