so 1st gear has been popping out alot and i realized ill ###### have to do a tranny rebuild. is this something i could do myself or should i take it to a shop? also what parts would i need?? thanks a lot

Tranny rebuild info HERE and HERE. Courtesy of VFAQ.com. You'll have to be very careful if you try to rebuild it yourself, need a few special tools, and mark everything clearly. If you decided to have it rebuilt professionally I'd skip local shops and send it to shep, TRE, or Jack's.

If you dont feel brave enough to do it yourself I suggest you check out dogboxracing.com, my tranny just started doing the same thing too.

I gave these guys a call and they were very friendly and answered every question I asked them, this is where my tranny is going to get rebuilt, and the price is awesome!

The only special tools needed are a shop press and a good pair of snap ring pliers. Other than that, follow the VFAQ and you can get it rebuilt by yourself

ill give them a call tomorrow and talk to them about it. it sounds like they know what theyre doing and i dont know if im ready to mess with the tranny myself yet. LOL how much did they tell you it would cost??? just curious
