tranny needs re-build?

ive been thinking it needs to be re-built because, i can pull it out of 1 and 2nd gear w/o clutch and put it back in. Also it has a hard time getting it gear from a stop, and reverse kinda grinds when i rev it and let it fall back down put in the clutch and put it into reverse it makes a little grind noise(before i start moveing). could i just be low on fluid?

Sincros might be going bad

Make sure the linkage on the trans is okay, Mine did the same thing and I had one bolt come out and it was a bi*** getting it into Reverse and 5th.

Your sincros could be off.I can shift mine to all gears with no clutch but can not go back into 1st.But I am a truck driver and that is how we do it.

If it's hard to get into gear from a stop, it sounds like the clutch isn't releasing all the way. It may have worn linkage at the pedal assembly. I'd check that first.

I would have to agree you could have a problem with your clutch.

Is your clutch properly adjusted along with your shifter?
