Heres the deal. my trans is popping out of first and it doesn't want to go into any gear easily. it doesn't creep or idle down once its in gear with the clutch pedal pressed down, telling me that the clutch is ok and not hanging up. i just did a master and slave, because they were both leaking. i'm wondering what my next step should be? adjust shifter linkage, synthetic gear oil, new clutch line? also when i first bled the clutch and took it for a ride, it shifted ok, just was popping out of first if you came to a stop in neutral, shifted into first, and tried to get moving again. i could get her moving in second to about 5mph, then drop it down into first and be fine, but it just wasn't gonna do it from a dead stop. suggestions? thanks guys.

sounds like a synchro problem, but it could be a few things. it seems that these trannies are very picky.

I have this same problem on my '98 GST w/ a CFDF clutch. I recently installed a new master cylinder, slave cylinder, and a SS clutch line hoping these would solve my popping out of first problem. None of these helped at all. I was wondering if maybe a should replace my clutch fork and ball next or maybe a longer slave rod....?? I'm hoping its not the synchros cuz that would drain my wallet pretty good....anybody have any ideas?

The problem is a worn intermediate shaft bearing on the bellhousing side. The trans will need a rebuild. Verify first that it isn't a shift linkage problem and there is nothing obstructing the movement of the shift levers under the hood on the trans. You can verify that it is not a shift linkage problem by putting the trans in first gear and then disconnecting the shift cables from the transmission then drive the car. If the trans still pops out of gear then it will need a rebuild.
