So after several months of annoying grinds and misses while shifting, I decided to check the tranny fluid. Well my manual says its supposed to have 4.6 pints, I definitely had to put in about 3.5! Also there were brass shavings in the fluid, Immediately I thought that the synchros were bad.
So I took my car to a mitsubishi dealership because I trust this one mechanic up there, and he told me it was the clutch! Well I respectfully disagreed because i just had buschur put in a new ACT 2100. Not to mention the fact that it only ground gears in second and third, I figured that clutches don't become selective on what works and what doesnt.
Well I finally took it to the local Chrysler dealership and they tore into it. Low and behold the synchros were bad, all of them. So they replaced that and the guy said first gear was toast so he replaced that as well.
So for a rebuilt tranny I only have to pay 100 dollars... YAY warantee....
just figured i'd share my experience with you all.... I'm super happy, and I hope i can get my DSM back on the road again!
