well my 96 eagle talon tsi was clicking up front on hard stops and go, so i had to do a oil changed, so I went to check if the tranny crossmemebr was tight and the bolts just spun. wtf! i knew exactly what was going on, my shit was rotted. the radiator brace is rotted out and doesnt have good metal around the mounting bolts. so the member hung "haha" about 1 in from where it was suppose to. so for right now i welded the crossmember to the the radiaotr brace but i put good metal around the non rot on the brace and and welded everything up. i knew it was gonna vibrate the car because the rubber isolators on either side are now non-fuctional. but i had to so i can get to work. has anyone had this problem? im thinking of taking my bumper off and reienforcing the radiator brace with angle steel and drill and tap the holes for the crossmember. anyone have any ideas or fixed this problem?

Your problem seems a little easier to fix than mine. I was planning to just weld the pieces together also, but I think some pieces should have some flex in them. Mine wasn't at the radiator brace. If you had a picture it'll make it easier for other people to see what exactly your trying to do. Ever think about replacing the rotted piece with a section from a junk yard car. Cut & Paste? Maybe you can't, or maybe I got a wrond idea of where the problem is.

Mine is the passenger side sub-frame bolt. Half the bolt is still there. To remove it properly I would have to remove the subframe then drill it/tap it out. I wish I could easily just drill straight through and use a long bolt/nut instead of tapping it.

well icouldreplace the whole radiotor brace which would cost ###### way to much and you really don't want to cut and paste because that should bestraight becasue it holds the raditor and bumper parts.

The portion of the Core support where the crossmember bolts is boxed off. My method would be to remove the front facia, radiator and condensor. Cut the top of the boxed tubing off to create a window to see the nuts welded in the core support. Cut the nuts out and begin bracing. Weld 2 nuts back in there. Take the material you cut away to access the nuts and re-weld it back in to close off the hole.

Thats one option.

i would weld nuts in but first i would have to put all new metal because the core support is rusted right out. the rest off the car is in good conditon with little rust underneath but i dontknow why the core support rusted so fast.
