Well, I took my car into Meineke to get it inspected, since my buddy used to work their he had a bud that said he would pass it...Well, I take it up their and the guy checks the basic things and hops in it and drives off......40 minutes later the prick comes back with my car, which just so happened to be smoking and smelling of burnt clutch, Knowing I was getting away with a inspection sticker I would not have gotten anywhere else, I did not say much, hoping that the clutch was not slipping or anything....Well I was wrong and now I'm out a clutch, I'm not too upset since I know it will need replacing soon anyways...

Anyways, in my 300z I got a Flywheel, PP clutch combo from Z1 motorsports for a hell of a deal, do you guys know of any good bundles like that for the DSMs? I have yet to really look on the sponsor sites, but I would love some feedback on the setup you guys run and how different brands and etc have worked out for you..

normally I would say stay the hell away from ebay parts but.. I had one of these on my first 1g. That car had a 16g / 2.3L combo tuned on SAFC putting around 300 to the wheels. Clutch held up strong to repeated abuse.

xtd stage 4 6 puck unsprung is the way to go got mine for 160 shipped and very reliable. Go with a fidanza or lightweight flywheel off the forums. Thats the best way to get one and you can have one for like 100 bucks

I've heard many good and bad stories about XTD when I was shopping around for my Z, They really hold up well? Anyone else ever try XTD clutches?

Had a stage 4 6 puck in my old Talon. I didn't have a lot of miles on it, maybe 10-11k, but it grabbed strong. Make sure you break it in correctly before beating on it though. I didn't rip on mine 24/7, but I certainly had fun with it while I had it.

they are very good clutches, they are ranked better than the act clutches by alot of people, its a metallic clutch if i remember correctly so that the more you mash on it the warmer it gets and the better it grabs. There is a thread dedicated to this clutch, make sure and get the stage 4 though, the stage 3 units are the same pressure plate as stock so no upgrades there!

There expensive but i would recommend a south bend clutch, There import performance devision is known as "dxd" clutch. Thery make clutches from semi trucks for pulling to toyota supras to hondas and everything inbetween. I have a heavy duty pp with a kevlar street disc and a act flywheel. Clutch pedal is a light to moderate feel and the clutch grabs amazing. I only have 300 miles on it mostly highway and have already launched the car 4-5 times and autocrossed the car and so far its been sweet. I was referred to the company by a few local friends with deisel pulling trucks making in excess of 600hp and way over 1000 torque at the wheels.

This is the second xtd stage 3 clutch ive had in my car, cant say il ever use anything else. Its a VERY good clutch, especially for the price.

Also the only reason the first one came out is cause i got my trans rebuild and the mechanic took it out to put a stock clutch in WTF

Anyone had the XTD Flywheel? How much does it weigh? It is made from chromoly steel and not aluminum as the fidanaza is. It looks a lot like the ACT Streetlite.

I loved the clutch, will probably be picking up a XTD stage 4 with the flywheel when my current clutch goes out.

Get that video and its on like donkey kong!!!! I've taken customers cars out for test drives and if the cars had something to brag about I found out about it. I think were all a little guilty of it but 105mph!!!!!??? Damn, the most I did was 80 from a dead stop and I was checking for an over heat issue and a vibration. Do what you can to get the video and if you can't keep it on your phone then keep it on a friends or post it on the net. He needs to be made responsible for the damage. Even if the clutch was on it way out he should help pay for some of it. The proof is in the video

see the only proof that would hold would be the original video though, in court there would be no way of telling who the person was that was driving unless they showed there face. You might get some credibility if the video was send as an MMS to your friends phone. Other wise the only thing you can do is threaten and hope that he acts and pays. Otherwise im sorry to say your SOL. His argument could be that your friend sent him the video originally. Its his word vs yours with not a ton of proof. The legal system can be a bi*** sometimes.
