tranny/clutch issues?

so i have this broken 5spd 1990 talon awd turbo. i got it cheep, it needed the water pump fixed and had some issue with the tranny/clutch that i cant figure out.

the car is up on jacks.

i cant get the motor to disengage from the tranny. but i can slide it into each gear,and they all work too.

the master and slave cylinder look like there working fine, no leaks and i can see the slave moving. i pulled of the rubber cover where the shift fork is, and that all looks good too?

eny one got ideas?

have you looked at the shift fork or the springs on the pressure plate?

I dont quite understand the question, If your trying to take the tranny out you need to first remove the drive shaft front axles intermediate shaft and transfer case. What exactly are you trying to do? Is the clutch pedal height and free play right? height should be seven inches and the free play is not to exceed 1/2 inch. Where does the shift fork sit in relation to the surrounding box. Is it before or @ the half way point or after the half way point? Is the slave cyl bled correctly? There are some bolts in the back of the awd cars tranny that need to be taken off, the rear tranny to engine bolt's. A lot of people forget these and get mad when the tranny does not come out.

You are saying you cannot get it out of gear correct? Or do you mean you cannot get them apart a little comfused here?

i trying to find out whats wrong with the tranny. i'm not taking it apart yet.

well the best i can tell you is that if you cannot get it out of gear then something inside the trans is broke, your clutch fork is broke, or your disk is broke i would tear it apart sounds like it needs it anyways

yeah i going to pull the motor. that well make doing the water pump/ timing belt almost fun.


i'v havent even driven my talon yet and i'm alredy pulling the motor.

if you're pulling the motor you'll need to take the tranny off to put it on a stand anyways so look at it when it's off
