Tracks in New England.

Does anyone know of any tracks, or know where I could find one in the Connecticut area? I've heard that there is one around here where all you need is a roadworthy car and a helmet, but nobody seems to know exactly where this mythical place exists. Even though my car is automatic, and practically bone stock, I'd still be interested to see what it can really do if I stand on it.

And in a related question, I usually drive my Talon like it's made of glass because I still have about a year and a half of payments left on my loan, and the last thing I need is to blow an engine or a transmission and have a 4500 dollar paperweight sitting in my driveway. So how much can you REALLY beat on these things? The car's in great shape because I take good care of it and generally DON'T beat on it. Could doing a couple quarter mile passes potentially hurt anything?

I know there is a track in NH, not sure about conn though. As long as you change oil and all fluids on the appropriate times then you should be fine then. 90 percent of the people on this board do more then a couple passes at the track, so no it won't hurt it. But being an automatic, i am not sure.

There's Lime Rock Park in CT. http://www.limerock.com I think they have drag racing (I didn't check out the site) and they have road racing. Also you can go to Lebanon Valley just outside Pittsfield MA. http://www.dragway.com

Lebanon Valley is $20 to drag until 10 or 11 and their site has the street night schedule and all that. It's probably only a couple hours away from you.

Lime rock is one hella park. I have raced there for scca. It is a road course not a drag strip. If any of you guys have a chance to see any race at lime rock you should go and see it. Sorry it was a lil off subject.
