Towing capacity?

I looked thru some of the forums but couldn't find an answer. What's the towing capacity for a 99 gsx? I wanted to get one of those dirt bike racks that attach horizontally to the back of my eclipse. I'd be towing an rm 125 so it'd be about 220 pounds and then maybe another 60 for the rack so we'll say 300 altogether. Think it'll be safe on the tranny? Will it cause my rear suspension to wear out? I planned on getting coilovers eventually so maybe that will help?

Your tranny won't notice an extra 300 pounds but I don't know how that unsprung weight will affect the frame and suspension.

No just one with no trailer. Just that rack. It's all that weight being in the way back that I'm worried about

Yeah but the boat was on a traiker and had a tow hitch.. Hes talking about mounting it on the bak like a bicycle. This isnt an suv man. Go buy a truck if you want to haul your motox bike

300lbs in the back seat would be no problem. 300lbs on the back end behind the wheels is a little sketchy though. Try it out. Just take it slow and easy at first.

The weight of a heavy set man on your trunk, You figure it would be okay, not like it will be there 24/7, I just wouldn't try and go fast with it on there.

+1 on getting a trailer. Something like a small boat trailer would work good.

While towing a trailer with a unibody car may seem odd, there are quite a few that do exactly that. Could possibly use bolts that hold structural rear bumper to the car to also hold the hitch to said car.
