So after replacing my flexplate I drove a mile bfore I instantly lost all gears and tranny fluid was pouring out.

After dropping my downpipe and transfer case I removed thr 4 bolts holding the torque covertor. Guess what? I am able to push the converotr back in about 1/8 of an inch. This is a brand new flex plate and I am pretty sure it was installed correctly. I thought that when it was installed the the 4 ends that get bolted bow back towards the engine. That is how it has been setup. I have no idea why it has a gap between it and the convertor.

Does anyone know if a convertor that slides out about 1/8 of an inch would cause all gears to go and fluid to pour.

Also, does this usually cause catastropihic failure inside the tranny?

OK I'm a little lost on what your describing, but I'll try to help.

Converters don't sit inside the tranny all the way, the usually come out 1/8-3/8" on the spline to attach to the flex-plate. The converter should have four raised pads that bolt to the flexplate. Most places recommend you use loc-tite when installing flex-plate bolts or they will come loose.

Have you checked your tranny cooler lines on top of the tranny? I have found they have to be a very tight to seal.

The pump seal could be bad, where was the fluid coming from?

Did you remove/install the torque converter when you had the tranny down? If so, you need to make sure it engages all three sections as it will "clunk" down three times as you rotate it. If it did not do this and you run it you will burn the pump up in short order.
