So I got up this morning started up my car and there it was lifters ticking. I am so pissed cause I just got those last spring brand new, they are supposed to be non tick SHITTTTT! Makes me not wonna drive the car now cause I had one go out and ended up bending a valve. That's why I got those.

Suggestions anyone? :barf:

It might just be lack of oil from the car setting. Is it colderish where you are at?

How long did you run it and did it go away after?

Most cars when they sit for awhile like over night or something, especially in the cold when you start them up the head is really tickky sounding but goes away after about 30 mins or so. This is with every car I have owned and or driven.

Why would ticking bend valves?

apparently I missed that part.

yeah what he said, the only way I can think of why it would be related to your valves being bent is if it was off time.

Off time will cause the tick due to a valve that got bent or is being bent, but ticking alone wouldn't.

ticking in your head usually means Lack of oil.

Did you make sure there was enough oil on the Dip stick because that'd be the first thing you'd wanna check.

Many 1G's tick like mad, and they're still reliable.

If you're ticking with those lifters, you have some kind of oiling issue; a blockage somewhere or something. I'd put on a whole different head or take yours off and have someone flush it out. My cousin couldn't get his 95 to stop ticking for good; he used additives, switched lifters (twice I think), and the ticking would always come back after a while. He swapped heads and now its fine.

He's right. 1G's to tick quite a bit, but it shouldn't be a loud tick tho.

Ticking can also mean bad valve stem seals, but that usually comes with some smoking too.

does your smoke at all?

Let me explain, before I changed to the topline lifters I had one go bad on me and bent an intake valve, but before it would tick like crazy and then go away.

But with those new ones I got I never heard them tick except for when I installed them Then I let the car idle like for 30 mins and then the ticking stopped, never heard them again until yesterday. This car is my dd. The ticking is driving me nuts and would not stop even after driving to work. Got 12k on the motor, mitsu valve seals and top line lifters, just might consider swapping the head guess I'll see.

I suggest, before pulling the head, you add seafoam to the oil. It helped my cousins madly ticky car (it only helped for a short time however).

You could also have carbon buildup on a valve. Get the engine fully warmed up; have someone hold the RPMs to around 2000-2500 rpms; suck water in SLOWLY through a vacuum line. A quart or two should be enough; you can add some seafoam or ethanol to the water if you want. If black stuff comes out of your exhaust while you're doing it, you know it's cleaning; if not, well it was worth a try.

well it sounds like your having a oiling Issue, when was the last time you changed your oil?

and have you made sure you have enough oil in the car?

and have you made sure your head is getting oil?

I'm pretty sure i have no oil issue rebuilt this motor myself all parts brand new from mitsu, including oil pump, 12k on the motor nah no carbon yet,10w30 oil and the level is correct,i change my oil every time i get bored at the shop with nothing to do,say every 2k miles hey its free for me,i just think these dam lifters are crap, gonna try a set from parts dinasaur.

Are they 3G lifters? My 2G lifters ticked badly no matter what I did. I got them to stop temporarily trying various things, but the ticking always returned with a vengeance. I got sick of it, so I put some 3G lifters in, and the ticking disappeared.
