Has anyone ever actually tried this mod.. Advancing the exhaust cam by one tooth.. to get better top end? This is with stock cams and gears.
I'm looking for someone who has tested it.

One tooth is about 10 degree's I believe. I would not recommend that kind of timing change with the camshafts. Evo 8's have been know to pick up power by having both intake and exhaust retarded by 5 degree's timing. If any camshaft adjusting is planned, get adjustable gears. Much more accurate and safe.

Thank you Groomz... I read about this mod somewhere, but could not find it again. I was just wanting to hear from experience, before I tried it. I think I'll wait on the new cams and gears.

Top end is just killing me. I ran 11.96 in the 1/4, but only had a trap speed of 110.05 (AWD). That was on 20mph over the 1/8. Too much drivetrain loss.......

It's not necessarily your AWD, but maybe your setup or your tuning. I know plenty of people who run similar times at higher trapspeeds.

Let's put it this way: My car, on a 14b, stock SMIC, and stock intercooler piping, traps at 108 mph when running high 12's.

Yours is almost a second faster, and only 2 mph faster.

Something is wrong.

Hell, a friend of mine who needs some launching practice ran 12.00 @ 123 on an AWD (but with a TDO6H 20g, Magnus intake mani, etc).

I'd work on tuning and maybe buying certain mods, before you worry about cam timing.

I would love to see that tuning!
