I have 2 quick questions.
1) Is there a special too you have to have to remove the radio antenna mast on my 97 GS Spyder?

2) Also the top stopped opening today. You can hear the motor and the top moves about 2 feet then the top stops moving. The motor is still running.

What's weird about the top is that everything worked fine a week ago and is now BROKEN!!!!

I searched and found some things to check out on the top but I guess I need to remove the liner to see the ribs and elastic.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

The drives have shear pins on the motor shafts. Replacing them with pieces of coat hangar wire is common. I don't know what kind of peril that puts the motors in.

Is there a MANUAL way to put the top up and down if the power part is dead??

There is a rocker switch inside the drivers side tail light access panel but I don't know what that is for.

thanks

oh my god this is hilarious, my sunroof and power antanae just broke also

Me and a buddy spent all day taking the fuggin sunroof off, it was a PITA
For me, after I got every thing off, the glass removed, all the little screws that I had access to on the tracks, and then the tracks removed, it turns out the drivers side control arm (the big piece that the glass bolts to and also slides in the tracks) had a fouled plastic piece that controls the recoil (if thats the right term) action.

To elaborate more, you know how the first action of the sunroof is to tilt the back up? Well that action is controlled actuaaly in the front of the tracks by the control arms, there is an opening kind of like a slot that a plastic piece is supposed to ride up, in turn tilting the back of the roof open, well that little plastic piece broke and I had to buy a hole new assembly of the control arm. And like you mine broke when it was open, it would only half shut, so I had to get it fixed.

The problem is the broken plastic peice is not revearsing the action in order to tilt the rear of the sunroof closed. The piece cost 185 from the dealer, but I know an auto body guy so he got it for me discounted. It was 125 through him at wholesale

There was definatly no cranks that I noticed, but as for the problem, even if there was a crank the thing is stuck in the tracks, it still would not slide all the way shut.

and to kwoods6 go easy on your motors, trying to close it over and over might lead up to more work than you have already, replacing a burnt motor.

I replaced my antena mast by following all the instructions above. I remove the old piece and tried to get the cable back in. I did i successfully on my 96 4runner, but as usual, the mitsu was a PITA. The cable wouldnt feed in as it needed moe of a bend on the tip. Not prob, i took it back apart and lubed it again and then had to partially wind the mast into the spool past the roller so it wouldnt stop & collide with the roller. Put the cover and bolts back on with it at 3/4 mast. cut the radio off and it pulled in. I then #### the radio on and off a few times and it worked. My wife drove it to work, cut on the antenna and when she parked and cut it off, the last 1' wouldnt retract. It still extends fully if retracted fully, but only retacts up to the last ' segment. What do I do now? It was PITA to get it back together with the cable past the roller in the firts place. The mast wont make the first turn by inserting the cable after assembly of the PWR antenna case. I dont know what else to do.
