How do I remove the antenna mast from the power antenna?

98 GS-T, I have the power antenna out of the car but I cannot get the mast out to replace it. Any tips???

Do you mean separating the last section of the mast from the housing? If so, you need to pull it out really hard. The base of the mast has two protruding clips that act like springs to secure it in the housing.

Thanks guys....I tightened the antenna part in the vice and yanked on the rest of it and it popped right out. When I replaced the antenna on my 91 mr-2 turbo it fell right out once the top nut was taken off. This one took alot of force to get it out. Now I have everything together I'm just waiting on my replacement mast to come in. Any tips or ideas for putting the new one in???

Ya don't. Get a manual mast. The auto ones always stop working within a year (esp if in cold/wet area) due to all the going up/down every time the radio is turned on/off. I put a manual switch in to make it stay up but even then it still froze.

Well it's not really cold or wet here so I should be OK. I purchased the car out of state so it probably froze up where ever it came from. I'll replace it once because I'd like to have everything working, if it messes up again I'll go with a fixed antenna. Thanks for the imput...

Finally got my antenna mast in today. I used the links above and it slid right in without a problem. Thanks again guys for all your help. She's working like new again....
