Power Antenna trouble

So the power antenna is stuck in the extended position. Everytime the radio goes on or off, you can hear the motor, but nothing moves. Any experience on how to reconnect whatever has gone wrong? Do I need to replace the whole unit?

If you look on ebay you can find complete kits for cheap. I'm sure they work fine.

What year is the car? I have a complete assembly I remvoed I don't need if you want it. It came off of a 2g
