Took my ecu out and after that car runs like crap

So I took my Ecu out of my 97gst and I just got this car not to long ago (1month) and it ran like a new car. I took it out to see if it was a emrom or what ever to link it and it's not ;( but now if I drive more than 5 miles and start to slow down at say... A stop sign it drops to 100 to 200 rpm. Any help?

Have you checked the connections? A wire may have come loose in one of the connectors.

I've checked it. I'll try again but I think it was flashed or something before but how would I be able to tell. Would I loose that when I unplugged it?

It's not a flashable ECU so that's not it. I've never seen the insides of a '97 unit so I can't help there. Do you have a CEL?

I agree with Wes that something probably happened to a connecter pin or wire when you removed the harnesses and pushed the wire bundles out of the way. If the wires are brittle or damaged then the copper strands inside can break but leave the outer insulation intact.

For my own curiosity, disconnect the battery for a minute to reset the ECU and see if anything changes.

I didn't have a cel last one was about 1 month ago when I got the car. A evac code and replaced the gascap cus I herd the air so replaced and now it went away. As far as wires. They look new.could maybe the mits dealer do a flash and only stay on when constant power is on it. Ex I had a little neon at first and had that flashed at dealer and It was like a new car. I unplugged it and felt as I lost power. Like the flash was gone.

Removing power from the ECU will cause it to have to relearn and adjust your fuel trims. The car can feel sluggish during this phase but that should resolve after driving it for a few days.

Not sure about the dealer flashing an ECU. I've never heard of it.

Yeah one just flipped on don't know it's prob a evap. I'll check in the morning.
