My car was way over boosting it was peaking on my stock gauge with in a couple seconds and the car would shake and would not rev any higher it does it thought all the gears. I bought a new wast gate actuator but it still does the same thing. I bought a greddy profec spec b boost controller still the same thing.:banghead:

It would help if you had a after market boost gauge the stock "boost gauge" is a POS and really doesn't do anything. Make sure the hoses leading up to the WGA are in good shape and still attached.

You BOV has nothing to do with psi, unless it's leaking of course.

Your stock boost gauge tells you estimated boost. Not accurate at all. Get a 30-30 boost gauge and see what it is running. After that tell us what is going on and we can help you track the problem down. It is hard to get an idea of what could be wrong at this point (too many things it could be)

if your wastegate is shut though, watch the gauge EXTREMELY careful to make sure it doesnt go around. Thats how I blew my headgasket. Boost controller fell off and 50psi on a HX40 with 1050cc injectors is never pretty. Felt like God but I'm lucky I didnt blow the whole engine up.

I hooked up a boost gauge and it shows -18psi when i rev it in neutral it goes to 0psi wtf any ideas???

wow LOL, that - 18 would be your vacuum and the car wont build boost in neutral because there is no load on the engine( with the exception of anti lag and 2 step)

The stock gauge is electronic and is what the computer "thinks" your boost is. It in fact has little connection to actual boost its more of a guesstimate and you can infact change the function of the stock gauge using ecmlink v3, I for instance have my stock boost gauge set as my battery volt display instead of "boost guess". As for your -18inhg at idle and 0 when you hit the gas, this is normal,-18inhg is a normal vacuum reading, you don't have any load on the motor so it's not going to build boost, go for a spin and see what it tells you.

The way the gauge reads is in inches per mercury, which is another way of showing barometric pressure. Your intake can only be at the current barometric pressure while at idle or with out a turbo it won't go very much higher anyway. They call it vacuum because you are slowly rising closer to zero barometric pressure until you reach zero then you reach boost. Boost is anything above barometric pressure.

This is why in other places of the world they are BAR gauges and not boost gauges. A bar gauge usually only goes to 1.5 bar depending on your set up and will have negative and positive bar on the gauge.
