TOB guide tube snapped off transmission

I'm not sure how this happened or what may have been the cause. I have talked to some local DSMers in the area and they have never seen such a thing before. I was running a stock trans. with a B&M lsd and a ACT 2600 clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. Just wanted to get some other input from other people. This transmission came off of a 91 Plymouth Laser RS fwd.

Are you 100% sure that the transmission was aligned correctly?

that just happened to the 93 tsi awd i just bought. i bought it like that way it is...
the guy said the bell housing was cracked and that it just needed to be welded. i dont ever take someones word on somthing like that, so i tore it apart and that same thing was broke off almost stuck into the TOB. i had to pound it out w/ a socket i found about the same size.

any clue on how to fix that, or would you need a new input shaft??

i have a spare trans w/good parts but blown center diff that i could check clearances and install if need be.

Wooh- When I put it all together everything was all lined up correctly, I even double checked the picture I took when I put it in.

Defiant- 2 botls were lose, but it took only a 1/4 turn to make them tight again.

Evil X- I had the same problem, I had to pound that pice out of the TOB also. It was stuck in there so tight, just like it all heated up as one part.

I just bought a extra trans. I'm going to send the one out that got broke and have it all rebuilt. That trans had about 180,000 miles on it, and thins new one I found isnt doing any better on the miles, but i'm going to put it on the car for now till the other one is fixed. Also, anyone know how to take a LSD out, any kind of specail tool?

Snap ring pliers and a gear puller.
I got the pliers, you can rent the puller from FFX auto parts...or just check around the shop.
