i am getting ready to put my feramic in with an ACT flywheel and had a couple questions.
1: is the step that the act comes with ok with this clutch?
2: what type of break in period do i need to give it?
thanks!

Oh so YOUR the guy that bought the last one.
As Kyle and Stan say, "You Bast**d."

Today Gabor said on another forum that he might start selling them to members since AMS stopped selling them. That didn't help me last week when I needed one though. Good luck.

actually, i've had mine for a while....just finally killed the stocker that's all. AMS had some problems with some of the newer ones. maybe that's why they stopped selling them???????

If you don't mind me drifting your thread a bit, what kind of problems?

All I've read about installing one is, don't ship the pivot.

not sure, he just asked when i bought it and said that they have had "some problems" with some of the newer ones. he said mine should be ok though. what do you mean "ship the pivot" and where did you read that at?

That meant I have poor typing skills. I read not to SHIM the pivot when I did a search on this forum and DSMTalk about this clutch. The poster said these clutchs are backwards in tht respect. AMS can't provide any step specs or installation instructions? They sold it, they should back it up.

I couldn't find that thread but this one is similar.

when did he say we didnt provide him with step specs or install specs. I have been emailing this customer all morning with information. We always back up our product. We stopped selling them because as of late we have had problems with the engagement and Untill this product is worked out we will not sell it. nothing more nothing less.

Eric

He didn't, and what I meant to suggest was for him to contact you. I can verify your good service.

AMS has been more than helpful with this product. i just wanted to get some opinions/advice from people who have this clutch as well as the vendor. FWIW i will be posting a full review of this product and AMS once i get it in and broken in.
after some of my experience with other "vendors" AMS has changed my view and has a new loyal customer as far as i am concerned. the tech work they post (cam comparo., etc.) is great and it's nice to see a shop that actually takes the time to test products rather than just say "buy a 2600, it's what everyone else has" or "buy this cam combo, we heard it was good". most just post what they have for sale and ask for money NOW!!! when i ordered my clutch they were very honest about the wait time and DIDN'T charge my card until it shipped.....they also answered my e-mails the same day (within 20-30min).....all this AFTER they already had my money. guess i just gave my vendor review

i am not completely satisfied with my AMS clutch that i now had for at least 3,000 miles. the engagement of the clutch is real tricky. at least 75% of the time, the clutch would shutter and it really makes me mad. i dont know if its just me or its the clutch itself...

well, i've been breaking it in for about 400 miles and it is great!! daily driving is a little more tricky off the line....but i think it has more to do with the lightweight flywheel than the clutch. very little chatter and less the more i drive it. i'll be going to the track soon to see how it does there!!

well it's been about 1000 miles now and it is great!! the clutch has broken in now and it's very stock like in daily driving. i went to the track and pulled many 1.8 60's all night and it was nothing for the clutch! i highly reccomend it and dealing with AMS was also great.

wtf, i was planning on getting this

NOW WHAT?

Where do i get a clutch like this? I dont want that act/clutchbastards garbage

I like the idea of having a feramic disk in there, i used to have a clutch with a nice sintered disk in my other car and i liked it

Where do i get this clutch now or whats going on with it??

AMS told me a couple of months ago that they would have a feramic clutch from another supplier for sale soon. They stopped selling the Gabor clutch because people were having engagement problems, or so they said. Gabor says it's because people didn't turn the flywheel to the proper step specs. He says he might start selling them himself. http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/home.html sells a feramic I believe. So does http://www.machv.com/mavpopucl.html, but make sure the Ironman has the revised disk, the old one was too tight on the spline. Both are good clutches.
