I see a lot of articles about switching a 6 bolt into a 2g, but none about a 1g with a 7 bolt. Im either going to switch a 6 bolt from a 1990 eclipse GST into my 1993 GS or just keep the 1990 and put the head from my 93 onto the 1990.
Basically the 1993 has a ton of new parts, rebuilt head, starter, alternator, rebuilt a/c compressor, new c/v axles, new clutch and couple other odds and ends. BUT just spun a rod bearing.
The 1990 GST has a rebuilt motor 30k miles ago and thats about it as far as i know. The guy im buying it from, a Level 4 ASE mechanic, had the motor rebuilt built but just had the a/c belt break and cause the timing to job resulting in some bent valves. He's wanting to sell it as it for 600 with a clean title. Says everything else on it works fine but the body is a little beat up and is in much worse condition then my 1993.
So basically trying to decide if i should switch the motor out for the 6 bolt or keep it in and just swap the rebuilt head and other components over? Not sure what all parts are interchangeable and I know I would have to customize something to make the 7 bolt head work on the 6 bolt correct?
Just trying to gets yalls opinion on what yall would do, and if anyone has any links to any tech articles on switching the motor in a 1g 7 bolt to a 1g 6 bolt and also putting a 7 bolt head on a 6 bolt motor as i cant find any.
Sorry to be so lengthy
