To Good to Be True Exhaust???

To good to be true! Not really, a cheap copy cat exhaust for cheap? No, its true. If you look its not a true 3" look at the flang on the end of the pipe!

It doesnt specify fwd or awd, but the pic look like its for fwd.

Maybe send them an email and ask. Its just an ebay catback

There is a very large thread on ebay exhausts. I plan on getting one in the very near future. For the most part they appear to be well enough built and they don't seem to fall apart. There used to be some extremely good deals on turboback systems for awd but I haven't seen one lately. Instead you'll have to pick up a downpipe and a catback, put them on then drive down to a muffler shop and have them cut out the section where they neck down at the meeting and replace it with 3" pipe. Otherwise you can keep your stock downpipe and cat and a catback will bolt right up to it. While you're at the shop I would suggest switching to a dual tip muffler that looks stock but this does up the price a bit. No one so far as I know has complained about the mufflers that are sent because of their quality but I don't like the large open tip.

Some people have complained about them rusting out relatively easily but it sounds as though with a little maintenance (read as washing your car) things should go smoothly even in climates with winters.

I would also look at a different ebay exhaust, that one looks okay but I wouldn't buy from a shop that claims one exhaust fits all 90-99 DSMs. There are plenty of vendors with similar prices on ebay that advertise their products for the correct vehicle. If I'm looking for what is out there I usually search for "eclipse exhaust" then sort by price and look at everything from $60 to $150. Usually they will all be the same price once you add price and shipping together.

i had a ebay N1 catback and i had really bad fitment issues and after awhile the hangers broke off the exhaust pipe

Everyone has pretty much spelled it out here:

Bad fitment
Rust inevitable
Not true 3"

IMHO I'd go with megan racing instead.

Funny, the more I read it the more I'm convinced they are just fine. What part of it are you reading? I've only paid attention to posts in 2008-9. I'm also not worried about rust because my car is not lowered (no scraping) and I store it in the winters.

I'm mostly concerned about the rust, but now i think about it, I'm in Florida where corrosion isn't that big of an issue.

Wow thanks for all the replys. I think I'm gonna go with the magnaflow turboback exhaust as stated by tjboker031. But thats going to be a savings purchase by the look of the price.

God I hate ebay and their deciveing prices.

Ebay cat-backs aren't bad at all, my friend has one on his 96 gst for about 3 years now, hasn't rusted and still works great. Only problem is that i believe one of the hangers broke and the exhaust is now kind of angled down since the section of the exhaust around the rear driver side wheel is bent down and is scraping on hard bumps.
Other then that they aren't bad at all.

I've had an ebay TBE exaust on my gst for 3 yrs. now. No rust issues, good fitment. I found them to be a great deal. I recently picked up a gsx it has a bushur racing exaust. It caost over $800.00 if it had needed new exaust I would have bought another ebay exaust.

I wouldn't purchase anything as important as an exhaust from eBay. As someone else said, the welds look shoddy, and I'm sure fitment won't be 100% perfect. I'm a big fan of you get what you pay for.

My ebay cat has been great.. For the price i paid its got a decent exhaust note, hasnt rusted, and i didnt have fitment issues or hangers breaking and ive had the exhaust for 3 years now.

Are there better quality exhausts available? yea, but i wasnt going to spend $500 on a n/t exhaust LOL

i have a bushur one too and i love the sound. Had a friend that had an ebay one and he had the same issue with the exhaust hangar breaking off.

yea i was furious when that happened to me but i ghetto rigged it with some clothes hangers:aha: but i havent had rust issues

I'll probably sell mine to get the HKS Ti.. Maybe in a month or two.. :sneaky: but yeah I had magnaflow not a bad at all. :D

I have a magnaflow cat back that came on my 90 its a 2 1/2" that I have mated to a megan 3" downpipe and test pipe. it dont sound bad at all.

here is the idle.

C'mon guys, an exhaust is the simplest part on your car that you need to upgrade. Buy yourself a bullet muffler and a 3" inlet, 4" exit muffler and have your local exhaust shop weld you up a full 3". Should be less than $250 all told and not too loud
