haha running your car with an open exhaust is great... sounds like a desiel truck at idle and soooooooo loud when u hit high rpms. u guys sould try it sometime instead of your wastegate!

I know a lot about the body of cars and how to make them look nice, but as far as the exhuast and dumping the O2 and stuff I'm lost. Can anyone explain how to dump the O2. I love loud ass exhuast and was tryin to figure out which way to go. I was gonna do a straight pipe off the exhuast manifold but then someone told me it will mess up my computer. I drive a 1997 GS-T by the way. If anyone can tell me how to set up my exhuast to get the most power and sound please help. If its more then can be typed on here email me at [email protected] or IM if you have AOL or AIM at Wakenplaya, Thanks

You can get a 3" exhaust, and be loud ALL the time, or get a dump tube and 2.5" exhaust and be loud only at full boost. I'll take option #2.

LOL not exactly. I have a full 3 inch exhaust and it is barely louder than stock just much deeper. I am also in the process of finishing up my tubilar header t3/t4 .60a/r and stage 5 exhaust wheel setup with a Tial 35mm external wastegate and am going to be re-routing it back in because I want to keep my exhaust quiet. A 3inch exhaust will flow enough for 500hp so your un-argueable performance gains are minimal compared to a real turbo and wastegate setup. I'll spend more money get more hp and keep quite, that's just my preference, having a noisy car is yous, no big deal.

If you run a resonator and muffler a 3 inch exhaust on a turbo car is not very loud at all. My turbo is much louder than my exhaust system is and I want to keep it that way. You spend all kinds of money to put a turbo on your car then cover up that priceless wooosh noise with blahhhhhh from an open wastegate. It's just not my taste.

We have made a lot of external dump cars and I just hate the sound of them. Sorry guys have to dis-agree with ya there. Maybe it's because I work on WRX's and Honda's and Miatas and DSM's with some dump and some not dump all day long, but that noise just started getting to me. It's not a refined noise or even a nice noise. It's just an annoying blahhhhhh when you hit boost. If I want an annoying noise when I hit boost i'll put my wife in my car and drive around. She gets annoying every time I drive fast.:barf:

LMFAO! I think we should be like supra's and get 4" exhaust. I know a couple DSM'rs run mandrel 3.5". I don't think the 3" is too bad at all though.

I have installed a pre-made exhaust (like Greddy or Thermal) on a talon in around 30 minutes add another 30 mins for a downpipe usually. We custom make exhaust systems too which we will be doing making me a new *trick* downpipe for my t3/t4 setup. ;)

I can tell you honestly when i first got it installed it scared the crap out of me! I wanted to return it & get a regular ported O2 housing. But then i noticed it only opens up when you floor it, so it's not such a big deal. I've grown to love that O2 dump sound & it'll definately affect would-be racers around you. My DSM is like a wild animal now, it's tame until you piss it off, then you hear it roar! And this is only on a 14B mind you, hehe...

Peace Out,
Saber!...!...!

it took me several hours to put a new O2 housing on my car...it was such a pain in the ass that i vowed never to do it agian without taking the turbo off. there are a couple bolts that are just impossible to get to.

I think the O2 Dump is great, but if cops are picky around your area are always looking for a reason to pull u over or bug u this is gonna cause a problem all the time when u hit boost. I have that problem around here, although I have not got a TSi yet I am just thinking ahead. I found this neat product online at www.mccordcg.com/mpp/mpp.htm and it works sort of like the O2 dump except if u want to be a little stealthy then u can just shut the flap and drive normally. I emailed them and they said that quite a few people with DSM's have used them. This product just seems a lil more practical, I know that it doesn't eliminate the 02 housing but it does help eliminate exhaust gas's that build up. Just my opinion, trying to help out the guys who have cops in there town with nothing to do but bother Imports.

If you have any kind of aftermarket exhaust and you go WOT anywhere near a cop you already have problems. An O2 dump is much louder than exhaust, but that doesnt mean your exhaust is quiet.

I am getting the turbo-back exhaust from RnR soon with the O2 eliminator pipe. Can I still dump?

Yeah the O2 eliminator downpipe elimintates the O2 Housing. You still plug the O2 sensor into the o2 elim. downpipe.

Rumor is that the "tubular" o2 eliminator is externally dumped.

You can but it will take alot of cutting and welding in your case your better off getting a regular Dp and then a 02 housing dump!

TWITCH

You CAN dump with the rnr exhaust, IF you get the TUBULAR O2 Eliminator Downpipe. Im not completely positive though, thats just what i read.

Here is the pic of the dump I ordered I paid 130.00 shipped NEW!!
