To buy or not to buy?

Whats up guys, I'm new to the forum but as many other new members I'm looking into getting a dsm. Anyway my buddy told me of a 2nd gen gsx for sale with a blown motor for 1500. I still haven't had a chance to see it but do you think I should go for it if the body is in good condition? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Well for one thing if the body is in good shape, you can't say no to a steal like that especially since it is awd. If you do it your self, you can buy a motor off ebay or just about anywhere else and drop it in for a about $1500 -$2500 if it is just a head and the pistons are fine just do some head work. It is a little bit of a gamble though. I would look into it a little more and see what is exactly wrong. A blown motor is generic and could range from a burned or bent valve to a hole in the piston or other nightmare causing headaches. It definitely sounds like a good deal though. Just be ready to sink money into it, after all it is a dsm.

if the body is in decent shape then i would buy it and do a 6 bolt swap to it

thats a deal bro, you should take that car and even try to get him to lower the price even more, get picky and see how low you can get it, then motor it up itll be nice

ive seen 2g gsx's out here with a blown engine for about 3,000-3,500. clean body f' up engine.

I've been looking for a 2g GSX for my lil sister since she wants one. But, she wants me to drop in a 6bolt.

If i saw a clean 2g GSX with a blown engine for 1500 i'd take it with the quickness. After all, I was planning on switching the engine anyways for a 6bolt, running or not.
