ok i read some post about this but got mixed feelings still. i have the greddy turbo timer and im looking at buying the greddy Greddy profec b spec 2. i have a stock set up at the moment, but im buying parts for down the road when i start modding the car. so should i buy this for 150? or just buy something else, i want somethign i can control boost inside the car.
edit: have read that is good and a nice thing to have, and also have been told from others they have heard nothign good about it.

from first hand experience,i wouldnt get another EBC. ive used both hallman MBC and the greddy profec.B. MBCs are simplfied and less costly.
but thats just me

I like my Spec B. Turbo doesn't seem to hit as hard but it's adjustable gain. Just wish my EVO16G didn't boost creep because it's really freakin my EBC out.

EBCs are bling and convenient. You pay for it and other added features. MBCs everybody will sure mention will do just as fine. But I've used both. If you can afford the EBC it's nice and I wouldn't hesitate to pick that first if I had a free choice. But if the MBC was my only option it wouldn't be a dreaded one.

yea i have the money for it, so why not get the features for it that mbc dont have

I have the profec b spec 2.
bougth it for $45 and never had a problem with it. It is very convenient and has a lot of features. The warning and limiter functions are very nice as they can riegn in over boost and spike, if thats a problem you are haveing.

Only thing I don't like is that you have to interact with the profec when you start the car or it locks you in a "safe mode".
You can have your 2 settings as high and low, but if you just turn your car on and go, you will be limited to 1 BAR or 14.5lbs. This "feature" is not mentioned in the manual and is a reason so many people don't like the profec2. they think that the boost controller is bad or broken. but its just that "safety".

Never heard of that safety feature before. I'm guessing it's not a very complicated process?

Mine doesn't do that either; I don't have to mess with anything when I start my car. There is a feature on the Profec B where you can turn it "off" and the boost is whatever it would be if the vacuum line went straight to the wastegate. It's possible that this "safety feature" is the result of the power wires being hooked up incorrectly.

I have the profec installed on my car and I love it...although just remember that if you change the lines running from the pressure source or the wastgate actuator be cautious because that will change the bcs duty cycle....just a little fyi if you choose to get it...I would get it just cause that is a pretty good price beeing that they usually go for 300 bucks...if you dont like it you can always sell it:thumb:

I'm quite certain that mine is hooked up correctly. Are yours under constant power? Mine turns on and off with the car. Yes, I can turn it "off" and low and high settings.
Might they be different series of the same product? Mine might be early or later version.

I don't want to speak trash and I don't what mods your going with but there are some cons about EBC too. I wouldn't rely on an EBC running high boost and the higher probability of failure is the EBC. I mean if you get a good MBC it won't overboost unlike the solenoid in an EBC which aren't stable in high boost. It might be cool to have all those high-tech gadget but it's just like a baby-o-mobile. I don't know which way you want to go; pimping out your ride or performance all the way.

finally, thanks. this is why i posted it i wanted to hear the bad about the ebc not the good i already know the good. but thanks, and btw i want performance all the way, i could care less about "pimping my ride" have you seen my pics? i got made crazy sun fade on my car.

I went to a similar situation when I first got mods. I got rid of the b spec 2 when I realize if I recall the max boost the solenoid can handle is 28 psi and it get unstable every lbs. you get nearer it.

The fundamentals of performance is going down to knowing what's going on and not rely on cool gadget doing the work for you.

I'd suggest a Hallman or TurboXS boost controller and a boost gauge. If you don't want the hassle of going under the hood every time you need to adjust the boost there is a Evo style of the Hallman.

yea. i already have a boost gauge. and yea i want something that i can change boost on the inside of my car instead of having to stop go under the hood and all that

I have to disagree with the above statements of the profec not being able to handle high boost...I know from first hand experience that it can handle 30 psi on a high nine second turbo buick and it never had an issue and was consistent enough for that car so Its all personal preference in my opinion:rolleyes:

i love mine, but i am selling it ### i need a 2gb front bumper LOL
