Ok, I got my logger cable today and I put TMO on my laptop. I started the car and connected to it via TMO. Initially it appeared to be reading well and the data seemed study (as I was learning the ins and outs of the program). My issue appeared to start after the car warmed up. The program kept losing its link and when it showed data the values for almost everything were jumping all over.

Also, when I looked at ECU errors, it kept changing what errors it listed and if I watched it long enough it seemed to state everything was wrong.

So, besides waiting till the car is cold and trying again, anyone have any history that sounds similiar? Also, while its idling, its stumbling and stinking up the air.

Thanks for the input.

I can't speak to the issue with your logger. Perhaps an email to them could clear things up.

If your profile is up to date, then there are a number of reasons you could be stumbling and rich at idle. First would be a misfire. That would account for the stumble and the rich smell. Replace your plugs with NGK BPR6ES gapped to 0.028, and if that doesn't work, move on to your wires. Again, NGK Blues are a great choice. Another issue could be an intake leak. It would have to be pretty big to smell really stinky rich and make you stumble at idle, though. Do you have all the honeycombs in your MAS? If it's been modified you could have issues as well.

Have you inspected the ECU?
Considering that every 1G ECU has either had the caps leak or will that's the first place to check.

It's possible that your datalogger cable is malfunctioning but unless you know that you have a good ECU you should check it for signs of the caps leaking.

I will be doing that tonight. Thanks for the feed back. I started searching more yesterday and I kind of had the ide to check that, but wasn't too sure.

In regrads to matthewdesigns: My plugs and wires are new. NGK and gapped to 30. They have about 2 hours of idle time on them. I also replaced the o2. The maf has all the honeycombs on it when I checked it during the IC pipe install.

Yeah I was going to suggest checking the ecu.
My ecu had some caps leaking and it was throwing off a lot of the sensors. For example my throttle position was all funky and the car had really bad idle surge. Replaced ecu and it ran so smooth.

So, should there be something obvious when I look at the ECU, if its bad?

I ask cause I took mine out and opened it and nothing screams out at me.

Well, looks like I needed to take a second look. Am I correct that this could be some of my issue? Also, anyone know what this section of the board handles? Thanks!

So, do you think that if I clean off the leakage and replace the caps, that it should work fine then?

From what little you shown us the odds are good that it could be successfully repaired.
I couldn't begin to guess if you able to. I have no idea if you have the tools or abilities.

LOL!!! Very true. Well, I did replace the one cap, just to see if it will run right. Just need to test it.

I do have the tools............now the steady hands and skills are always questionable.

Worst case scenario is that its still broke and I'm still in the same position of buying a new one.

Thanks for all the info.

So, the one cap didn't fix it. Oh well. Next question. What are the other two caps for (the cylinder ones)? Just trying to guage the odss of replacing them vs it fixing the issue.

Thanks
