Titanium retainers vs Steel retainers [Merged 9-9]

quality Ti shouldn't be a problem, aluminum I wouldn't even use in a race motor...

Can the stock retainers be used safely with the BC Valve Springs? I'm thinking of going this route, but I want to do it right the first time around. Any advantage to have the Titanium retainers over stock?

The stock ones work with the BC's. The titanium ones are for very high revving engines. They are lighter and stronger so they don't weigh down your valvetrain allowing it to rev higher and they don't warp under constant high revving as steel ones would. Don't buy them unless you plan to do some road racing and tune your car to be able to rev up to lik 9 or 10 grand. Unless you've already bought the springs I would suggest getting Evo 8 stock beehive springs and retainers with 3G eclipse followers. That's a nice upgrade. The Evo 8 parts are lighter and stronger so that you can rev up more easily and the 3G eclipse followers won't float at the added high revs.

The titanium retainers come with the BC springs anyways. They'll be nice to have as the lighter retainers help reduce the chances of valve float which more aggressive cams can cause....
