Tired of my exhaust

I liked my megan muffler when i first built it, but as of late, i hate the way it sounds and looks on my car. Im am building a new car now, and would like to get the best looking muffler i can for a 1g. I like the way an hks or apexi look on 2g's. But for a 1g, its hard to make those look good. Also, i going to register my car in ohio i think to keep the rights of basically, anything goes, so i can get rid of that cat, i love the sound of the turbo threw the exhaust. Anyways, what is the best looking muffler for a 1g?? Or maybe something custom i could do like cut a half moon in the bumper to fit a nice hks or apexi in there and make it look nice. What do you think?

Lets put it this way, my uncle ran a 91 gti eurospect the way he wanted. Columbus seems not to care much since every time i visit i see shit cars with everything you can think of falling off, and you pass once, you're good. I dont understand it coming from PA. Maybe in norton is strict, but the way my uncle tells me, its pretty easy to pass.

Nah, its easy to pass. We dont have inspection or anything, I passed with an externally dumped WG. They just run your car on the sniffer dyno thing. Thats whats hard to pass. Ive never had shit for illegal parts or window tint or exhaust or anything.

I just meant Echeck is hard to pass. Its got small room for failure and usually modified cars arent tuned for emissions, ya know?

Right! Sorry I got off track. I run an HKS Ti knockoff. I ran an n1 muffler on my 1g. It sounded amazing. Its so deep, theres no raspiness at all. Pure rumble. The hks gives you that DSM Dumptruck sound that we all love.

I have a full 3" VRS turbo back w/o2 dump and magnaflow muffler. It sounds great!!!! On my 1992 laser awd 5sp.

I've been a fan of Magnaflow, but they give a bit of a raw sound. With a four cylinder it can be a bit whiny but the design is solid and they have a much wider selection of designs than hks or n1.

They have a few that fit almost the exact same dimensions as the stock 1g if you wanted to keep it looking like the original. MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust - Universal Mufflers

My other 92 talon has a n1 and i beleive the magnaflow sounds a hell off alot better. The only thing with the magnaflow is it got rusty after about 3 months Also i have a 3a racing on my 2g wow what mistake sounds like poop.

^^ That is out of a sti. Sounds sick. Part of the reason i hate the way full canister mufflers look is because the 1g has no half moon the fit a nice little curve upward like a 2g and keep it relatively close to the bumper.

Do you have any pics of it before you installed it? I have looked at a few off ebay but they weren't a 2 piece design and didn't look like a full 3in system.

The half moon was only on the 1gb, not 1ga. I could cut out a half moon though. I was just looking for a muffler, not the whole system.

It's not the nicest looking though, but you get to add your own tip, and if you don't want to cut your bmper you could use something like the old porsche 944 turbo's use, like this one...

On my old 1g gst i had 3in straight pipe from the dp all the way to the back...No muffler....
My first car had a fart can and Ive grown a dislike for them... The only muffler id put would be a magnaflow
style/ shaped, stockish looking sleeper muffler... But I liked running the straight pipe.
Looked better, and sounded better that way to me. Long time ago, and I dont own that car anymore.
2gs actually look ok with mufflers though as long as they are big and not sitting at a weird angle.

On my Awd laser I have a stock muffler in the back.

I was looking into getting a Megan Racing exhaust. What is so bad about it. What all dont you like. Does it sound like a honda or a fly or bee.

No its sounds good, nice and deep, but im tired of it and the look i dislike on my car. It just looks like shit to me. Im thinking about doing a straight pipe from the downpipe, or a muffler where the cat goes then straight pipe, i love hearing the turbo through the exhaust. Sounds sick!! I like the magnaflow most def.
