Tire/Wheel Fitment questions, 93 GSX

On vfaq the specify specifically 2g dsms.

I'm looking into the SSR GT1 wheels which are 40 mm offset, 7.5 inch wide. For a tire I was looking into the kumho MX's in a 225/45 or 235/45 both to fit the 17 inch wheel.

From thread read previously, I assumed this would work, however the TireRack's guide says differently.

205/50-17 ***ALL WHEELS LISTED WILL WORK
215/45-17 17X7.5 ET38 OR LESS 17X8 ET35 OR LESS

That is what i was given from Tirerack. is "ET" the offset? any Help?

Yes, ET is the offset. Yes, Tire Rack info is accurate. Go with the +38mm offset, especially if you are going to run a 235/45 tire (or ET38 or whatever they are calling it)

Yes, Tire Rack info is accurate.

Sort of. If Tire Rack says it will fit, then it will, but many combinations that Tire Rack say will not fit actually do.

Very true, but judging from the way the post was worded, I figured the KISS rule in this instance would be less headache for all parties involved.

Wow... i think i must have been drunk when i wrote that first one... Sorry about all the bad grammar and retarded phrasings..

Anywho, the reason i was looking for the higher offset was because I would like to be able to use them on my other car also, which comes stock with a 55 offset, but works with down to about a 40 without problems... thats why i was asking. I'd like to go with a 225 at least. and i'd prefer not to use spacers, however i will if i have to.

I'm running 17X8 with 40 mm offset with no issues. Current tires are smallish 215/45 and I will be replacing them with 235/45. I know folks running the same setup as me with 245/45 and no issues.
