I am heading out to the track in a little bit and I was wondering to what psi you FWD guys lower your pressure to. I have the rears set at 50 psi and i have the fronts at 25-26psi. Thanks for you input.

yeah 50 cause the harder the rear tires are the less resistance they are to me as I am rolling along.

I can understand raising the rears but 50psi is past the stress limit of the tire. As you run, you'll generate heat and are therefore more prone to promoting failure. Never exceed the max pressure listed on the side of the tire (usually around 44 psi).

Be safe,

Andy

Good point on not over inflating the rears but what about the front tires pressure being lowered? Is 25 psi to low?

I'm not FWD, but I've done a bit of searching and most people run between 20-25 psi. The important thing to remember is that it's counterproductive to do any kind of burnout on street tires. You can try a couple of dry hops past the water box and see what you get. Optimally, you want the front tire pressures as high as possible while still maintaining good grip, which means it's all in how well you slip the clutch and how much the track will hold. Start at around 25, see what that does and then adjust up or down as needed.

Good luck!

Andy

last time i was at the track i was around 20psi, and i spun the tires a little bit before the run to get the sand that was on it off. best i got was a 2.2 60' (stock turbo)
