2G Tips for install of G-plus upper oil cooler coolant hose on 4G63T?

I'm trying to re-invigorate my wife's 98 DSM. I got the G-plus hose kit to replace a pair of failed coolant hoses on her 4G63T.

The first four hoses I installed with not much issue (upper/lower radiator and feed/return line), but I can't get the upper coolant hose going to the oil filter housing to fit (in this case the end not on the oil filter housing). It's location makes it challenging to apply a lot of force, but it seems that the G-plus hose's inner diameter is too small. I tried to work the hose ends with a funnel before installing to get them to flare open more, to no avail. I also suspect that the other end of this hose (up above the oil filter) will be similarly challenging to install.

Any tips from those that have succeeded?

Could spray them with a little spritz of water or very small amount of engine oil on the inside of the hose to try and get them over. Had to use the spritz method of intercooler piping and such before. Hope this helps.

Warm it up with a hair dryer or heat gun and then shove a pair of needle nose pliers up in the hose and pry them apart to spread it open.
