Just a general question: I'm finishing up my timing belt install but find it difficult to turn the crank because of the camshafts pressing down the valvesprings. What method did you use to get 6 revolutions? I can't even get a complete 1/4 turn, it's pretty tough. I'm using a 7/8 socket, breaker bar and extension. I pulled the pin and checked tension by sticking the pin back in, everything looks good - there's just too much resistance to turn the camshafts, all timing marks are lined up. Initially I met the same resistance when turning the camshafts to line up the marks, it feels the same now. I don't want to have a wrench thrown at me when the lobes go past the valves. There has to be a better way...

It happens, dude :thumb: :D

It helps when the car isn't in gear

I'm an ass. Thank god ignorance isn't painful :p

Well, like my mother used to tell me all the time, "if brains were a disease, you'd be healthy."

;)

We all have our moments. Hell, I stuck my thumb in a moving motorcycle chain OMG

Also, you shouldnt be using any sockets to turn the crank. How are you turning it? Use a 1/2" drive directly on the crank.

I used a 7/8" socket and finished the belt, now the engine runs crappy. 43 counts of knock! :|

that's another thread...

But what bolt are you putting that 7/8th socket on? The oil pump gear? I am not even sure what bolt on the timing belt would be 7/8th...it should all be metric.
