I know a Timing belt kit from drive wire is like $100 give or take some.
What other belts and pulleys should I replace while in there?...

Timing Belt
Balance Shaft Belt
Balance Shaft Tensioner Bearing
Timing Belt Tensioner Bearing
Timing Belt Idler Bearing
New Water Pump
Water Pump to Alt Belt
Water Pump to Power Steering Belt
AC Compressor Belt

I'm not 100% sure what I need to get so I'd like to check with some of you guys.

I'm also having a DSM gear head show me how to do this. He's going to install the belts and pulleys and also hold my hand while we complete this much needed maintenance repair.

NOW HERE'S THE BIGGEY....
I just want your opinions on how much I should pay this guy. What sounds right to you. How much should I pay him for installing all belts, pulleys, water pump and also teaching me?

Add a new hydraulic timing belt tensioner to that list to do while you're there. As far as what you should pay him, what's it worth to you to learn how to do something? The work I do on the side, I charge $20/hr.

How long would a job listed above take? And as for what its worth to me... I'd pay him up to $600. The learning experience is what I'm really looking forward too.

LOL he's not charging that much. I'm just saying a good learning experience is worth that much too me. So you guys think about $300 is good?

To be honest, if your going to be there every second trying to learn and helping him... I would say a crisp $100 bill with all the materials/tools he will need at hand. Otherwise, I'd be like SIKE!! Even $50 is good to be honest, especially if he wants to help you learn more in the future. Timing job is very sensitive and needs to be done professionally (or DSM professionally :p)

I need a complete timing job soon, and I have no idea how to do it. Even searching and taking my time scares me. I'd rather see it done two or three times. Whatever the experience is to you along with how much money you have to blow.
