Hey guys I'm having some troubles with my timing belt install. First I installed my balance shaft belt with the timing marks lined up correctly then I installed the main timing belt with all the timing marks lined up and now when I tightened the belt the grenade pin will not come out of the tensioner. Also when I spin the crank it will start off easy then it will get pretty hard to spin at one point. So why is this happening when all the marks are lined up? I am going to try and get pictures of all the timing marks soon! Thanks for the help guys.

Whenever you get to the compression stroke it will get hard to spin. If you take the spark plugs out it will make it easier. Is your tensior new or used? Does the top of the tensioner come in contact with the adjustable tensioner arm at all?

The part about it being hard to spin is normal. It starts off easy but gets a little tougher, then gets easy again. As long as it doesnt just stop, like its locked in place, its ok. If this happens then your valves are hitting your piston. As far as the grenade pin on the tensioner, I used a small allen wrench when I did mine and it pulled right out, it was the old tensioner though, not a new one. I would imagine if it was a new one it would have more pressure pushing against the pin making it more difficult to remove.

I will take a second look at the tensioner arm when I get home! My tensioner is new!

It almost puts me to a stop when trying to turn it! I will have to put a good amount of effort to get it to spin! I don't hear any sounds when turning it kind of fast?

Do you have the spark plugs taken out like 93 GSX Turbo said? That would make it easier.

Yes sir plugs are out!!

If they are all out then it shouldnt be that hard to turn. The only other thing I could think of was if the transmission was in gear. I know its a common sense thing but its an honest mistake that I am sure is sometimes made. If all your marks line up and it doesnt crash when you turn it over then I would imagine that it would be ok.

Lol to be honest I didn't go into real depth diagnosing thus far! Today I am gonna go out and get this thing done once and for all! Lol
