I'm trouble helping my friend put on his timing belt cover. We forgot to put it on before we dropped in his motor and now we are having trouble. The motor is a 6bolt in a 95gst, and he has the 1g cover but it requires us to remove the mount or something which we really dont want to do (prothane mounts made it troublesome). Is a 2g cover easier to get in? Would we need to do any mods to the cover?? And is there anything that we should remove to make the job easier?

Keep the cover you have. Try taking the front driver's side wheel off, and put the cover on from below. Just wiggle it around and manipulate it and eventually it'll get on. Just remember it's plastic, so you can bend it a lot to clear bolts and stuff. Just don't be too rough with it, because if you warp it, it could lean against pulleys and/or belts and wear holes in the cover.

You'll need to take the driver's side motor mount off, but it's only a couple bolts. It shouldn't be hard. You can take the wheel well dust shrouds off when you take the wheel off to make a little more room.
