Hello all. I recently bought a 1G GSX and am going to be swapping my timing
belt and installing a balance shaft delete. I will be doing this with the motor still
in the car in about two weeks.

I’ve been doing lots of research but I can’t seem to find what gaskets I’ll need
for this job. I plan to leave the front balance shaft installed for my BSE. I am
curious to know if I will have to remove the oil pan if I’m going to do it that way
and if so what other gaskets I'll need.

In regards to gaskets, I know the obvious ones I’ll need like the front case
gasket and crank and oil pump seals for good measure, but I don’t want to
crack my oil pan off and be forced to remove a part and not have a gasket to
re-assemble it.

So to recap, if I leave the front shaft in for the BSE do I need to pull the oil
pan? And what gaskets will I need to perform this maintenance properly minus
the ones I listed? I feel like a total noob asking this but I’m sure once I have
the parts I can plan the rest, just frustrating not being able to know what I need
for the job. Thanks for your help! :D

In addition to the gaskets/seals you've mentioned, consider replacing the front balance shaft seal (since you're leaving that shaft in, it would be wise to replace the seal), the castle plug o-ring, and the oil filter housing gasket. Because the turbo oil drain also attaches to the pan, you'll need one (though you should really consider doing both) return line gasket. Depending on if you separate the oil pick-up tube/strainer/oil screen from the front case or, you may need that gasket as well.

You must remove the oil pan to get the front case off. The pick-up tube/strainer/oil screen for the oil pump that is bolted to the front case is also bolted to one of the main studs. There is no way around getting to it than to remove the oil pan.

Thanks for the input! So pretty much if I get all the gaskets/seals listed here I should have everything i need right?

-Front Case Gasket
-Front Crank Seal
-Oil Pump Seal
-Front Balance Shaft Seal (for front shaft being left in)
-Castle Plug O-ring
-Oil Filter Housing Gasket
-Pickup/Strainer/Oil Screen Gasket
-Turbo Oil Drain/Return Line Gasket (two separate gaskets?)

Thank you for your quick responses! : )

If you go to rockauto.com you can get a oil pump gasket kit for like 25 dollars. IT has the pump gasket, filter housing gasket and seals. From there you will just need the drain line gasket and crush washers for the drain line bolts. You will also need the castle plug o ring.
