Tien Basic... blown? repair?

I just put on a set of old Tien basic and set it at stock height. The ride is horribly, its bouncy. Does that mean they're blown? or is it because it is set a stock height? and how much would it cost to repair them? Thanks

See any fluid leaking out of them?

My old set of Basics weren't very bouncy at all and I had 2 blown dampers, opposite corners. FYI, placing them at the highest ride height they offer is still below stock. IIRC, about a 2" drop in rear and 1.5" in front at the tallest. Setting them at this height might make them a little more stiff on compression and possibly increase rebound force, but most likely the dampers are shot. Mine were used but all together only had a lifespan of about 3-4 years with easy driving. As I recall, having them rebuilt is usually about 1/2 the price for a new set unless you really F'd them up.

My FWD came with these installed, make sure they were installed correctly, I've seen scenarios where people adjust the ride height incorrectly (i.e., compressing the springs). Mine ride horrible as well, they were installed correctly and don't seem to be blown. They're great for handling on flat roads but here in NYC the roads are everything but smooth.

I'm looking to get rid of mine - swap them out for OEM spec springs/shocks.
