Tial Bov question

I installed my tial bov finally, everything seems to be going okay other than under low boost it will just surge, and when i floor it it will blow off somewhat strong ( sneeze haha) but it seems like something is nnot right. My friends blows off way louder under low boost and doesnt surge....

so should i trim the spring or what should i do?
 
You need to start your car and watch your boost gauge to see how many inches of mercury (vacuum) your holding at idle with the car at operating temperature, you might have the wrong spring in the bov.

Vacuum / Spring Color
-20 and -21 in/Hg / Pink 11psi spring
-16 and -19 in/Hg / Silver 10psi spring
-12 and -15 in/Hg / White 8psi spring
-08 and -11 in/Hg / Black 6psi spring​
Don't cut the spring if its the wrong one, contact Tial and order a new one through them and try to sell the one you've got.

Most DSM's with 272's installed would run the Silver -16 to -19in/Hg spring. Its possible you have a vacuum leak thats giving you a false vacuum reading, do a BLT to be sure and then get the spring you need.

yeah ill do one, im sure i got a few.

okay so i ordered the 9 psi spring, in the meantime i cut 1 coil off this one and it helped a lot, doesnt surge at all. But its still not blowing off loud. My friend is running the same bov and his blows off wayyy louder for some reason
 
I run the lightest spring they have. The only thing that will happen is maybe a small leak at idle, and if you have a properly setup SD or blow-thru setup it won't matter, and your BOV will 'blow off' as fast as possible.

Look at your Tial bov while your cars idling (in vacuum) the thing is completely open and you can see down inside your IC pipe. If you run a spring thats too weak for your setup then going into boost you'll get compressor surge.

I've never had that problem, I also have fairly large cams though. I don't doubt that it's possible, I've just never seen it.

Well your lucky you never ran into compressor surge running too light of a spring, you should see a log I have of compressor surge because the boost looks crazy jumping everywhere. I thought I was running the small turbo out of its efficiency range but come to find out my bov was blowing open.
