Thumping??cv joint? help

just recently my car seems to making a weird clunk noise when i make faster left turns and at lower rpms. sounds loudest in 2nd gear? i dont kno what it is..maybe cv joints or axels? If u think it is this could u help my find the parts i need online? and are they hard to replace? another thing my car is doin is when im hit a bump at high speeds i feel like im guna loose control..the cars wants to dart to either side? any help would vbe much appreciated.

its been my experiance that clunking noise from making a turn is the signs of an axle going bad. Look under the car and see if the rubber boot on the axel is still in tact. If its ripped or broken all the grease is long gone and your wearing out your axle.NO matter what you see when you take a look I would take it to a trusted mechanic

if i were to replace it myself how hard would it be? ive heard its alot easier to replace the whole axel rather then rebuilding one with new cv joints. is this true? how hard?

If you turn your wheel all the way to lock and turn in a circle in an open parking lot and you hear sort of a popping sound its most likely a CV join that is bad. Make a left circle and a right, and you will most likely be able to hear which side it is.

And to answer your other question it is much easier to just replace the whole shaft rather than just the boot. If the boot is torn, most of the grease will probably be out of it, and moisture will have gotten inside. Its just much easier to take a shaft out and put another right back in.
