throwout bearing?

I posted on here a few days ago about my tranny biting the dust but I think it may be the throwout bearing. With the clutch pressed in the tranny makes no noise and I can shift into all the gears fine but when I let out on the clutch it sounds like the throwout bearing is spinning against another piece of metal, almost sounds like two rough metal plates spinning against one another. As I said before the tranny has a hole in it somewhere because all of the fluid spilled out. Sound like a throwout bearing issue or should I go ahead and look for a new turbo tranny? I'll be pulling the tranny this weekend either way.

Dosent the TOB only get used when the pedals pushed in? also u might want to check the dust cover on the tranny it could be broken and rattleing.

Mine was said to had a bad TOB but come to find out it was the dust cover its broken on both sides and rattles like crazy and sounds like metal rubbing metal when i push in the pedal.

TOBs typically make noise when they're under load, i.e. clutch dis-engaged. It's more likely the bearings inside your transmission, especially if you've lost all of your fluid recently. You'll have to pull the tranny apart to find out for sure.

Tob actually make noises when they are not being pressed. They rattle and then when you press the clutch, the noise goes away.

Your TOB will make a high pitched squeeling noise when clutch pedal is not engaged. When the clutch pedal is engaged the noise should go almost completely away.
