Edmonton,
So i took my car to the mechanic as it was having tons of electrical problems and they removed my aftermarket alarm and installed a new alternator.. I drove the car home, no problems, then when i started it up again, im getting a ridiculously high idle. It was a pretty hot day out today as well

Here's a video i just recorded... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFYpbJKhU3g

after the initial gear shift to second, i dont touch the throttle anymore and it seems like it's just sticking.... i have no idea what the problem is and dont know much about cars / fixing them. Is there anything i can do ?

pics of throttle body, it seems there are some disconnected plugs ( the blue one ) i think that might just be from my alarm tho......

help would be very appreciated

which one is the throttle cable exactly? sorry for the newness

It's the actual cable which runs from the gas pedal to the butterfly valve in the throttlebody, it's hard to miss, it's located on the back of the throttle body, near the spindle looking thing, running along the intake manifold.
With the car off, feel the cable to see if it's tight, or has slack, it may just be that you're cable is really tight and is holding the throttle body partially open.

Edit: In one of you're pictures I circled the TB cable.

well i wiggled it, it's really short so i cant really tell if its slacky or not..... seems fairly tight but i mean i can like bend it. Anyways after waiting a while i started the car up and its not idling super high right now so i dunno if that would be the case? im gonnna drive and see if it starts again. Back in 15

Thanks for the help so far much appreciated

k so i just drove the car like 20 miles with no problems, then i finish washing it, start it up again and the idle thing shoots up...... but after driving a bit more it went away. I'm going to read through the Vfaqs.

Im gonna try cleaning the throttle body

check the tension of the throttle cable when the car is warm and/or the idle is high. close the throttle manually see if the idle drops

you turn the wheel like thing that is connected to that wire, you can rev up or down your engine which is actually just opening or shutting your throttle.

Check for boost leaks also. My car was doing this over the weekend and I had a bad intake manifold gasket leak. Also adjust the Siss screw mine was also out your car should idle around 750 to 850 rpms.
