My car been high idle lately, when it warm up, it idle at 1k then after drive around ( with boost alot or run at high speed ), the engine start getting realy noise, and idle at 2.5k to 3k, and if I put on first gear, it grind so bad, that it wont let me put on first, I have to put on second to go. And if I turn off the car, and let it sit long a long time, it idle fine again, but after boost and high speed, it idle high again. any one know what going on here ? thanks

maybe just check out your tb idler cabel and see if somethings obstructing that from closing the throttle plate to the point its suppose to be, causeing you to get a higher idle... I dont see why it would grind though if you had the clutch all the way to the floor trying to put it in gear ... If anything you can use the adjustment screen on the throttle body cabel to set it for a lower idle manually and that can somewhat solve your problems, but whenever your idle goes back to normal it will cause an extremely low idle if you set it lower while its high...

Check you TPS, mine use to do that after running it hard replaced that and it doesn't do it anymore.

you'll have to take out everything in the way to get to that bottom screw. It makes it much easier

Hay guys close to the same problem. My idle starts and stays at 2k rpm. It is not surging at all. My Biss srew is adjusted all the way in so the biss is not the problem. The throtle cable is not tight and I tried adjusting the throtel cable stopping point, allowing it to stop all the way. I do not think its a sensor because the car is not surging or changing its pattern when the cars just starts off or when it has been run hard.

What do you think?

Just picked up my first eclipse.... 95 GSX...and I also have this problem...idles fine when first started, but after driving and coming back to a stop it stays at 2k....trying to rev it incase the throttle plate was sticking only send it to 2.5k and holds there... :(

If you have vaccuum leaks after the throttle butterfly, you can have high idle (extra air leaking in under vaccuum (during idle). You can check if it's a vaccuum leak by spraying starter fluid on various vac lines, gaskets, etc. during idle. If the idle goes up, you're sucking air in somewhere.

I just bought another 95 GSX as a daily driver. This is my only problem. When I first start it up, it idles fine, but at times it will idle a lot higher, like at 1.5-2k and just hold. No surge or anything. I get no CE lights for tps, or isc, or any CE light for that matter. I have adjusted the throttle cable just to make sure. Pretty intermittent problem. Sometimes its fine for the most part, then other times the idle is high.

i had same prob, checked my timing belt, it was ok but my balance shaft belt was shot. changed it and it seemed fine but idled high, my timing was off on my gears (must have jumped by about half or 3/4 of a tooth. adjusted it, idle was perfect.

i cant beleive this post still here, I fix my problem , turn out my tb cable is stuck, try to adjust the TB cable when the car is high idle, or manual close the TB. that how I fix my problem, I been trying all metrol on vfaq, and none of them work, turn out just TB cable stuck.:coy: .

This is exactly the same problem mines having Im just a backyard mechanic so i dont know all of the terminallogy but the throttle traces back to a box which goes through firewall to pedal on the box there is a nut where it exits i adjusted that all the way down so i have really low idle like 700 rpm and it fixed my problem but robbed me of tonza power bc i have soooo much pedal play. I know this isnt the correct solution so in backyard terms could some1 tell me what i should do?

I just read my last post that makes no sence what I ment is the cable traces back to the box and there is a nut on the cable where it exits the box. My bad
