i recently had a jdm longblock put in my 91, and ammoung other problems(most due to horrible mechanics), the throttle poisition doesnt seem to read right, or feel quite right

when i floor the gas the TP seems to go right up to about 88% then slowly go up to 100 after about 700-1k rpms, almost as if the air flowing in and boost pressure were pushing it all the way open. my logger and acf both show the same readings. it didnt read like that on the afc with the last engine, but i have the jdm throttle body on there now.

so what im trying to find out is whats wrong, or what everyone thinks it might be. to much slack in the throttle cable? or maybe the jdm throttle body is sticking a little and needs cleaning? maybe something else im overlooking?

im just trying to seee if anyone has had a similar problem beforei start pulung things apart at random, seems like im working on the car every week already.

You may need to adjust your TPS sensor especially if it was off the car. Attached is an excerpt from the service manual on how to adjust it.

thanks alot for posting that manual page, but i dont think there is a problem with the TPS because it reads 100% after flooring the gas for about 700rpm in boost. i would think it would never read 100% if the tps was incorrectly adjusted, but obviously i could be wrong.

im thinking there might be some rust of something on my TB making it stick a little, since there was a good ammount of rust on the stock flywheel and some of the other left over parts i have from the jdm engine. im going to take a look at my throttle cable later today to see if theres any unesscary slack.

oh, and i almost forgot, the car feels slow up untill the TPS hits around 100%. if i go from a 3500-4000 rpm roll it feels slower then it should up untill about 4500-500 when the TPS hits 100%. this makes me think that the TPS is working correctly, and that there is something preventing the TB from opening all the way when i first punch it.
my logs show the throttle position doing this every time i shift as well. the TP droppes off to the high 80s then comes back up to 99-100% after about 400 to 500 rpm.

Take of your throttle and clean it very good, let it sit for a while, and re-install it.

leave the elbow off for now and have someone press the gas all the way down, look how close it is to a perfect horizontal passageway.

I believe (i know i could with my 2gnt) you can adjust that opening so it opens allowing 100% flow through.

i took a look at the throttle cable earlier, and compared to my friends 2gT it had a very large ammount of slack. doesnt supprise me with how terrible of a job that shop did putin my car back together after putting the engine in.
i adjusted the cable and now the throttle position goes from 0 to 100 on my afc wih the car off or on, although it still feels like it shoud respond a little faster, and sometimes it sticks at 0.4 to 1% untill i tap the peddle up. it still seems to stick a little even thoigh a put more slack in it half a dozen times.

iv got a spare USDM throttle body sitting in my room anyway, ill probally chean that one up and swap the JDM one out for it. then ill see whats going on with the JDM one and put it back on later. its alot better then it was, so its ok for now. so i can get back to all the other mistakes to fix from the engine swap.

thanks for all the help guys
