Thoughts of Ebay fmic

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

It all depends on how much you are able to spend. Know that since the product will be cheaper it may not be as effecient. Also it may come with piping and clamps and hardware but you will more than likely have to do some fabricating to get it to work. Also I have read that the couplers are quick to get hard and discolor. It maybe more beneficial to find a used decent brand in the classifieds.

i have a ebay core but it was from a dsm performance dealer on there. do your homework on the dimensions of what fits and how the endtanks in and outlets are. i love my FMIC, its pretty big and fits nicely. do yourself a favor and buy pipes from a reputable dealer though. dont get shitty pipes with no bead because they will blow off.

I love my eBay intercooler. Back in the day I dropped 800 bucks on a greddy front Mount and piping. The piping was junk and didn't line up right( especially the UIC pipe that ran through the passenger fenderwell).
But i got a kit on eBay with piping and couplers, and haven't regreted it at all ($195.00).
Granted you'll need to bead your IC piping and there's a DIY beader write up on here or dsmtalk that's awesome. You use a pair of big vise grips and a muffler clamp. The Tbolt clamps aren't all that great but have held up for 1year with no problem.
I run, and have friends running high boost with low inlet temps and not blowing couplers all day. That's more than I can say for my old greddy kit. Everytime the boost hit 20psi something was always popping loose.

Some are good, some are junk. I have the SSAC kit and it's fine. Vendors like Punishment Racing are starting to have some great affordable kits available, so don't rule those out and only shop on ebay.

my friend had one on hos 1g awd, paid like 200............evo3 stock longblock motor 18g 550s 3in gm maf translator was all the tuning.....car was not lite by all means and managed to blast out an 11.80 in the .25

I measured almost 3psi drop from my old stock 16g j-pipe to the IM through a 2.5"X7" Ebay IC. Not sure if the high dollar ones drop like that but it's unacceptable.

I'm interested how your friend mounted an evo3 engine in a 1g. The block doesn't have the front and rear mounting points, the trans does.

So are you interested in how i'm running a 92 trans in my 98? When you have tools anything is possible.:D

Oh my, this has been beaten to death.

I have several reviews posted in the review section with tons of pics. doing a search will also show a lot of threads.

ALL the DSM specific kits from ebay work fine, obviously some better than others. People have proven them by running high hp with them, but keep in mind the FMIC a lone does not justify the power they get. Take account specs/pressure drop, etc.

The "UNIVERSAL" piping kits suck. They are not beaded. There are already several proven "KITS" where universal ones just doesnt seem worth it.

I bought mine off of ebay and im happy with the intercooler. The only problem was that none of the pipes lined up at all. I had to cut and weld the whole system. I bought a cheap one tho and i guess you get what you pay for.

ebay rocks. import tuner or someone did a test between ebay kits and greddy kits. guess what? there was no noticeable loss until after the 6th back to back dyno pulls, and on top of that it was only a .05 percentage, but that also could of been due to heat soak.

also a reason why greddy is getting out of the intercooler business....
